According to Wikipedia, Little River is known to be the first community in Horry County. It was first settled by Lewis’s, Waites, Vereen’s, and the Tilighman families. The community has bragging rights to having our founding father President George Washington, visiting and staying overnight with Jeremiah Vereen in his cabin. The last census report shows a population of approximately 8,960 with a median age of 56.

If you are looking forward to a laid back serene vacation where there is less traffic and away from the crowds but close enough to venture how when you want a little action then Little River may be perfect for destination for you. It’s about 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach which is considered the center of the Grand Strand and probably with the most tourist attractions. Little River is like having the best of both worlds.

There are many activities to enjoy this small city. Little River is home to the Blue Crab Festival. Every year in May and it is the biggest seafood festival in the Southeast. It’s a great time to rub shoulders with locals and enjoy local seafood.
